A vulnerable victim was left devastated and furious after being conned out of thousands by a friend.
Frank Thompson, 61, was sentenced to 20 months imprisonment and handed a restraining order barring him from contacting his victim for ten years at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday (April 18). He previously pleaded guilty to one count of fraud by false representation, which saw him con his victim out of £7,000 between April 1, 2019, and August 11, 2021.
The ECHO has chosen not to name the victim, who was a friend of Thompson's and lived in the same residential property as him. The crime was first reported to police in September 2020, when the residential property's manager Rosemary Collins told officers that she had concerns regarding the possible financial abuse of a resident by another resident.
