Former Geordie Shore favourite Vicky Pattison helped launch the new McDonald’s Rewards scheme on Wednesday in Newcastle. The reality TV star handed out thousands of free points, exclusive merchandise and frozen McFlurry treats to help people cool off in the heat.
Called MyMcDonald's, it is the brand’s first ever rewards scheme and is now available on the McDonald’s App. The launch has seen the fast food giant team up with Vicky and TV presenter Rylan to lead a ‘Rewards Squad’ of celebrities on a tour of the UK.
It kicked off in Manchester on Tuesday with an exclusive gig by superstar grime artist Aitch before the Rewards Squad headed to Newcastle. Vicky jumped in the McFlurry van to dish out frozen treats to keep people cool, as well as handing out limited-edition McDonald’s merchandise.
Vicky said: "It was such a pleasure to be part of the MyMcDonald’s Rewards launch and surprise fans in my hometown. Handing people a cool McFlurry on a hot day and letting people know that they can start earning points on the McDonald’s App from today was a dream.
"Swapping my glad rags for a bucket hat was a great experience and seeing the reactions of all the lovely fans and crew when they were gifted MyMcDonald’s Rewards points was fab, I loved it."
As part of the tour, McDonald’s is giving away five million Rewards points to customers, crew and their charity partners including BBC Children in Need, FareShare and Ronald McDonald House Charities. At every location, customers can expect to be met by the Rewards Squad and receive points they can add to their MyMcDonald’s Rewards account on the McDonald’s App and redeem against their favourite menu items or convert to a cash equivalent charity donation.
Next up is Glasgow on Thursday, Cardiff on Saturday with Love Island stars Shaughna Phillips, Lucie Donlan and Chris Hughes, followed by YouTube sensation Chunkz challenging MyMcDonald’s Rewards customers to an epic gaming experience on Sunday.
The final leg of the tour is in Birmingham on Thursday July 28 where social media star LadBaby will give fans the ultimate Drive-Thru experience.
