A pensioner in Paisley has been hospitalised following a vicious attack in broad daylight – prompting appeals to help track down his assailant.
Police say the 68-year-old was assaulted in the Braehead Road area on Monday between 5pm and 5.30pm.
The man suffered severe injuries to his face as a result of the incident and was transported to the town’s Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment.
Investigating officers are now appealing for witnesses to get in touch if they have any information.
Detective Constable Laura Sokolov said: “Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone with information to get in touch. This area has lots of shops and would have been busy at the time.
“We are keen to talk to two people who may be able to help with our enquiries. In particular, a white male aged in his 30s, 6ft tall with short brown hair.
“We are also looking to trace a female, described as around 30 years old with black shoulder length hair. She was with a child.”
Anyone who witnessed this assault or has dash-cam or CCTV footage from the area at the time is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 2918 of May 15.
