When Vice President Kamala Harris received the news from President Joe Biden that he would not be running for re-election in 2024, her husband, Doug Emhoff, was not physically present with her. Emhoff was away on previously scheduled travel, first in Arizona on Friday and then in Los Angeles until Monday morning, as confirmed by his spokesperson Liza Acevedo.
Emhoff is set to return to Washington, DC later today, where Vice President Harris has been actively engaging with Democratic leaders and other stakeholders to garner support for her upcoming presidential campaign.
During his visit to Arizona, Emhoff represented the campaign by participating in an event with Black leaders of the state and attending the opening of a field office. However, the campaign did not recommend his trip to Los Angeles.
