Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to visit North Carolina this Saturday to assess the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The devastating hurricane wreaked havoc across the southeastern United States, claiming the lives of over 200 individuals and causing widespread destruction.
During her visit, Vice President Harris will receive briefings on the ongoing recovery efforts in North Carolina and provide updates on the federal government's response to the disaster. This trip comes shortly after President Joe Biden's recent visit to the state to address the aftermath of the hurricane.
Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump, who is a political rival of Vice President Harris, was in Evans, Georgia, on Friday to also receive a briefing on the damage caused by Hurricane Helene. He was accompanied by GOP Georgia Governor Brian Kemp as they discussed the impact of the hurricane on the region.
The destructive path of Hurricane Helene has left many rural communities isolated and in urgent need of assistance. Tens of thousands of individuals are currently facing challenges in accessing essential resources and support as they work to recover from the devastation caused by the storm.
