Vice President Harris To Deliver Closing Argument Address At Ellipse

Kamala Harris address public gathering

Vice President Kamala Harris is set to deliver a crucial closing argument address next week at the Ellipse, a park located just outside the South Lawn of the White House. This location holds significance as it was where her rival delivered a speech on January 6, 2021, which ultimately led to the attack by his supporters on the US Capitol.

Harris' speech, scheduled for Tuesday, will serve as a prominent denunciation of former President Donald Trump's suitability for office and a cautionary message about the potential chaos his return to the Oval Office could bring if he were to win.

With just a week remaining until Election Day, Harris plans to use this address to draw a clear distinction between her own vision for the presidency and that of her opponent. She will outline her plans for her first term while also painting a stark picture of the consequences of a Trump presidency.

Advisers from Harris' campaign have provided a preview of the speech, emphasizing that the event is still in the development stage and choosing to remain anonymous.

Following his defeat in the 2020 election, Trump persistently claimed victory, including during a speech at the Ellipse where he urged his supporters to march to the Capitol and pressure lawmakers to overturn the election results. This ultimately led to the violent riot at the Capitol, for which Trump has faced legal repercussions.

The permit application for Harris' upcoming event estimates a crowd of approximately 7,500 attendees, along with 250 staff, organizers, and volunteers who will be present.
