Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz are set to embark on a bus tour in battleground Georgia next week, marking their first joint campaign appearance in the state. This move underscores the Democrats' strategic focus on Georgia, a state that has become increasingly pivotal in recent elections.
Georgia, a closely watched battleground, saw President Joe Biden win by a narrow margin of fewer than 12,000 votes in the previous election. This makes it a key location for gauging voter sentiment and response to campaign efforts, making it an ideal starting point for Harris and Walz following the Democratic National Convention.
The bus tour will commence on Wednesday with stops in south Georgia and will culminate in a rally in the Savannah area on Thursday. Notably, Gov. Walz will not be present at the final rally.
The campaign's approach emphasizes direct engagement with voters in their communities, mirroring their previous bus tour in western Pennsylvania. The campaign views campaigning in Georgia as crucial to their goal of reaching a diverse coalition of voters.
With over 170 staffers across 24 offices in the state, the campaign has already established a strong presence in Georgia. Additionally, a new TV ad highlighting Vice President Harris' economic vision has been released in Georgia and other swing states as part of the campaign's outreach efforts.
