A vet has issued a warning over dogs wearing boots as snow blankets large parts of the UK. While the weather might be magical for some, dog owners may be left wondering if they need to be doing anything extra in terms of protecting their animals from the harsh winter conditions.
Dozens of online retailers sell boots for dogs as a way of protecting their paws from the harsh wintery conditions, and many of us will have chuckled at viral videos online showing pooches struggling to get to used to having boots on - but a vet says owners should consider other ways of protecting their pet's paws instead of using these trending products.
Head vet at tails.com, Sean McCormack, said that while dog boots do not generally cause pets pain, they can be incredibly uncomfortable for them. "Dogs find it extremely difficult to adapt to wearing boots, as they make their paws heavier and restrict movement," Sean said.
