'Very poorly' Niall Horan cancels RTE Late Late Show appearance after falling ill on flight

Niall Horan has pulled out of a TV appearance on RTE's Late Late Show tonight as he is 'very poorly' after falling mysteriously ill on a flight on Thursday.

The former One Direction star, 28, was due to join host Ryan Tubridy virtually from LA to pay tribute to golfer Leona Maguire.

However, on Thursday Niall revealed that he had become ‘extremely ill’ on a British Airways flight.

And on Friday evening a spokesperson for the pop star confirmed that he was still too unwell to appear on the talk show.

In a statement to the Late Late Show, a spokesperson for Niall said: “He’s very poorly and is so disappointed that he couldn’t be on the #LateLate tonight. However he is very proud of @leona_maguire and all that she has achieved!!”

The Twitter account for the Late Late Show said the were 'devastated' that he couldn't make it but wished Niall a speedy recovery.

Niall took to Twitter on Thursday to thank the British Airways staff who looked after him on the flight after he became seriously unwell.

The Mullingar native wrote: “Thank you to the staff on that @British_Airways flight. I was extremely ill and they took such good care of me.”

The official account for British Airways replied to Niall on Twitter, writing: "Thanks for your lovely comments about the care you received from our crew on your flight, Niall. We'll be sure to pass on your thanks to them."

It is not yet clear what illness the Irish singer songwriter was suffering from on board the plane.

This comes days after Niall was spotted at the Super Bowl LVI with fellow pop sensation Shawn Mendes where the Los Angeles Rams beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 in a fourth-quarter comeback.
