'Very frustrating': Sky users say an ITV X bug is making the channel 'unusable', but Sky says it's now fixed

  • Sky Glass has a major ITV X issue that's now been confirmed by Sky
  • The bug sees the ITV X app skip to the end of programmes
  • A Sky spokesperson says the problem "should now be resolved"

If you've been experiencing a frustrating issue with your Sky Glass TV and the ITV X app recently, you're not alone. Fortunately, Sky now says its support team has fixed a bug that saw the channel's app jumping to the end of shows.

The problem was first raised in a popular Sky Community post on May 27, where a Sky Glass owner complained that hitting fast forward on the adverts saw the ITV X app jumping to the end of the show they were watching.

Dozens of other Sky Glass owners chimed in to say that they were also experiencing the frustrating bug. One person said it was making ITV X "effectively unusable", as it was not only jumping to the end of a show, but also to the start and halfway point once the titles had finished.

According to some commenters, similar problems have also recently hit the ITV X app on the Sky Q and Sky Stream boxes. However, as of 4.36pm GMT, a Sky employee said: "our Support teams have confirmed that the problem should now be resolved".

Is it definitely fixed?

Given that the fix was only confirmed less than an hour ago, it may take a little while for it to roll out. But not everyone is convinced that it's been resolved — two commenters have already replied to say they're still experiencing problems.

The bug has been particularly disruptive as it seems to have been hitting both those who've paid for Sky's Ad Skipping feature (which costs £6 per month) and those who haven't. One commenter said shows were jumping forward "after an ad break, or after pausing playback, but sometimes while watching as well".

Aside from not skipping ads, the only solution that seems to have worked for some is resetting the app. This involves pressing the Home button on your Sky remote, then going to Settings > System management > Resets and updates, and then choosing 'Refresh apps'.

Still, now that Sky has confirmed that the issue is resolved, you shouldn't even need to do that. Are you still having problems with the ITV X app on Sky? Let us know by voting in the poll below.
