Australia's Oscar Piastri and championship leader Lando Norris have been disqualified from the Las Vegas grand prix in a sensational setback to the McLaren duo's championship bid.
McLaren apologised to their two drivers over the technical infringements that caused the disqualifications after Norris had finished runner-up to Max Verstappen on Saturday (Sunday AEDT), while Piastri settled for fourth.
The pair - both hunting a maiden title - were stripped of their results more than four hours after the race finished and Norris originally thought he had extended his lead to 30 points ahead of the penultimate round in Qatar.
