Verdict on Chelsea vs West Ham referees revealed with Premier League review of VAR use

The Premier League have shown their loyalty to referees across the division by announcing the officials for the upcoming weekend's matches amid a controversial set of decisions made at the weekend.

With fan uproar regarding decisions between Chelsea Vs West Ham, Everton Vs Liverpool, Newcastle Vs Crystal Palace, Manchester United Vs Arsenal and Nottingham Forest Vs Bournemouth, the use of VAR has been heavily criticised, along with the standard of refereeing in England.

Meanwhile, the men in charge of matches have already found out their assignments for the new weekend and there have been no repercussions for either of the officials in charge of the key talking points from Chelsea's win against West Ham.

Andy Madley was the referee who failed to endear himself to Chelsea fans after a coming together between Michail Antonio and Thiago Silva went unpunished. The Blues would later have Madley, and VAR official Jarred Gillett, to thank as the pair chalked off Maxwell Cornet's late equaliser due to Jared Bowen's trailing leg impeding Edouard Mendy.

Whilst PGMOL, which has also come in for a lot of criticism this week, is set to review the use of VAR alongside the Premier League as widespread confusion over the role and use of the technology remains unclear and inconsistent, Lee Mason, who was the VAR official for Newcastle's match against Crystal Palace, hasn't been assigned a role this weekend.

Both Madley and Gillett have been, despite the pair being under fire and review for their roles played in Cornet's disallowed goal. Madley will referee Liverpool Vs Wolves and Gillett will referee Leicester Vs Aston Villa.

Chelsea have also found out their next set of officials, with David Coote taking centre stage and Stuart Atwell in charge of VAR when they face Fulham in the west London derby on Saturday lunchtime.
