Vera's Newcastle filming sees Quayside bar's name changed as ITV cast and crew arrive

A Newcastle bar had an unexpected rebrand this week, when it became the location for some tense looking scenes for the new series of Vera.

Having already taken up residence in the likes of Wylam, Hexham, North Shields and the Metrocentre as production kicked off on the latest run of the smash hit drama, cast members including leading lady Brenda Blethyn arrived on the Quayside on Monday, with passers by managing to get a few pictures of the BAFTA winner on set with returning co-star Brenda Blethyn.

As well as the show's stars, crew and camera equipment being spotted right next to the Crown Court, Vera's famous Land Rover also also parked up by the pat as Brenda and David headed into The Hooch to be filmed. The café bar and live music haunt, from the same team behind long-running nightspot Hoochie Coochie, has become a real favourite with locals since it opened a few years ago and and at the end of next week, announced it was having to close for 'a private function.

And then all was revealed a day later as Brenda and David were seen inside right by a window, with a big change to the venue's exterior as The Hooch sign was covered up and had a rebrand to become Grounded Out coffee shop for the purposes of Vera.

After attracting plenty of interest with their appearance all over Tyneside and Northumberland, the Vera team moved further south towards the end of the week, with them heading to North Yorkshire, as Brenda and David were spotted filming close to a railway in Bedale.
