Venus Williams is far from just a tennis player. Since entering the limelight at just 14 years old, the worldwide star has ventured into many other industries, including fashion similarly to her sister, Serena. She most notably founded fitness line EleVen in 2007 offering pieces from vibrant tennis-inspired skirt sets to leggings and workout bras. Most recently, Williams collaborated with Bloomingdale's on a carousel shop entitled Game On in partnership with Air France.
Crafted under the luxury retail giant's private label, AQUA, the 36-piece collection gives customers a chance to shop the entrepreneur's must-have picks across athleisure, retro apparel and beauty. The shop also includes exclusive essentials from high-end brands, such as Anine Bing and Longchamp as well as Happy Viking and Asutra, both of which Williams sits at the helm.
Although the collaboration is unexpected, the retailer's choice to recruit Williams speaks to its staying power as a monumental department store that caters to all people. "It reinforces Bloomingdale's position as a culturally relevant retailer at the forefront of what is new," said the company's Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Frank Berman. "The multicategory products featured within the Carousel are inspired by the summer's biggest events, and we're so excited for shoppers to discover new must-haves."
The partnership is a natural choice for Williams who's a longtime admirer of the brand. "This collection is a special opportunity to draw inspiration from my personal style and create chic pieces that can empower women to feel great and look great for any occasion!"
