KOCHI: For the last few seasons, Kerala team has been over-dependent on their senior cricketers, especially in the longer format, for both runs and wickets. While 34-year-old Sachin Baby (830 runs from seven matches) and 36-year-old Rohan Prem (480 runs from seven matches) were the top two run-getters for the state in the last Ranji Trophy season, 36-year-old Jalaj Saxena topped the bowlers’ charts with 50 wickets from seven matches.
With Sanju Samson playing only three games due to his Team India commitments, the inability of the youngsters to complement their seniors hurt Kerala big and saw them failing to reach the knockout round of Ranji Trophy.
