Hundreds of supporters of opposition leader María Corina Machado rode motorcycles and drove through Caracas on Sunday, Sept. 27, while similar gatherings unfolded in Valencia, Maracaibo and Mérida, according to the Associated Press. Participants asked for her to come home safely and for a presidential vote. The events came days after her team said she was turned back three times within 24 hours.

Sunday's demonstrations show pressure on Venezuela's US-backed transition becoming visible in the streets, at a moment when the interim government has promised elections but named no date.
