The Briefing

  • 19 airlines—11 of them international—are operating through Maiquetía International Airport's four modular temporary terminals, which handle roughly 25% of pre-earthquake capacity after twin June 24 quakes forced a 10-week shutdown
  • Venezuela logged 178 weekly international flights in September, up from 157 in May, while American Airlines, United Airlines, LATAM, and ITA Airways all have announced new or expanded Caracas connections launching between December 2026 and March 2027
  • Peter Cerdá, ALTA CEO and IATA's VP for the Americas, warned at the Mexico City forum that temporary infrastructure could last another 8–9 months and that Venezuela needs a 25–30 year airport master plan — not a patch job
