Venezuelan rapper Adonys Francisco Mata Martínez, known professionally as Adonys10 or AdonysX, has been in ICE custody for nearly three months. Now, from inside a Louisiana detention center, the artist is sounding an alarm over what he describes as overcrowding, inadequate food, illnesses spreading among detainees, and a lack of medical care.
The 2024 Red Bull Batallas Champion Mata is currently being held at River Correctional Center in Ferriday, Louisiana, according to accounts from his family and his own communications from detention. In a recent call and video shared through his social media accounts, he described conditions that he says are putting detainees' health at risk.
"There is a flu that doesn't go away because we are overcrowded, 76 people in a single cell," Mata said in a video published on social media. He also alleged that people are becoming sick without receiving adequate medical attention.
The Venezuelan artist's allegations are part of a broader urgent appeal being circulated by people connected to detainees at River Correctional Center, who are asking news organizations, government authorities and advocacy groups to investigate conditions at the facility.
The statement alleges poor sanitary conditions, inadequate food and overcrowding and says detainees fear those conditions are contributing to the spread of contagious illnesses. Detainees have reported cases or suspected cases of tuberculosis, conjunctivitis and other illnesses, although those claims have not been independently confirmed by health authorities.
Mata himself has raised similar concerns.
"They are practically trying to kill us with the food," he added, before describing what he considers inadequate medical conditions inside the facility.
Food portions are small and alleged that detainees have sometimes received expired food. He also described his own difficulties obtaining medical treatment.
According to Mata, he has experienced sharp pains around his heart that detention personnel attributed to anxiety. He also said he suffered severe dental problems but was unable to obtain treatment from a dentist, eventually attempting to address the pain himself with hot water.
Mata's family and supporters are now trying to draw attention not only to conditions inside the facility but also to his individual immigration case.
According to information provided to this reporter, Mata's immigration hearings have repeatedly been postponed while he has been moved between detention locations.
"The hearing is constantly being postponed, and they still haven't given him a clear sentence," reads a message provided by a person familiar with his situation.
The message alleges that detainees are transferred between facilities and their hearings repeatedly rescheduled until they become exhausted with the process and agree to voluntary deportation.
Those allegations about how Mata's immigration proceedings have been handled could not be independently verified.
Mata's detention represents a dramatic turn for an artist who had been gaining attention in the United States before his arrest.
The Venezuelan electrician and rapper developed an online following through freestyle performances and music released as Adonys10. His profile grew significantly after appearing in viral content with pop duo Crash Adams. One December 2025 video posted by the group featuring Mata's freestyle was promoted as reaching tens of millions of views.
His Instagram account now has more than 300,000 followers and has become one of the channels through which his family and supporters are drawing attention to his detention. He is also a new father.
Mata was detained by ICE at the end of May, according to his family and recent reporting. La Nación reported that he said he had Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, when immigration authorities detained him in Florida. His family publicly confirmed through his social media presence that he was in ICE custody.
