Departing Vasilis Barkas got the A-list treatment at Utrecht as they welcomed their new goalkeeper in style.
The Celtic stopper heads to the Netherlands on loan as he looks to revive his career after two torrid seasons at Parkhead.
He arrived in the summer of 2020 in a £4.5m move from AEK Athens but was heavily criticised for his early performances.
A series of clangers saw him dropped for Scott Bain and he made just two appearances last season under Ange Postecoglou, with Joe Hart now the undisputed No.1.
At 28 though Barkas still has time on his side as a keeper, and with two years to run on his Celtic deal, his long-term future remains up in the air.
For now though they've decided a spell out of the Parkhead limelight is what he needs and on Tuesday it was announced that he has joined Utrecht on a season-long loan.
The Eredivisie club say they are delighted with the signing and they've rolled out the red carpet for Barkas with an Instagram clip going behind the scenes on signing day.
He's seen shaking hands with manager Rick Kruys and posing for the camera as he debuts his new colours.
Barkas comes into Utrecht as a replacement for the departing Eric Oelschlagel and he'll be expected to compete with emerging Fabian de Keijzer for the no.1 jersey.
Speaking on the signing, Technical Director Jordy Zuida said: "We are very pleased that this has been achieved with Vasilis Barkas.
"Vasilis is a big and athletic goalkeeper. He has good reflexes, rules in the air in the box, stands his ground in one-on-one duels and has charisma.
"Vasilis is also an experienced keeper, who has played under the bar at top clubs in Greece and Scotland and has played the necessary international matches with Greece.
"He gives our team an absolute boost.”
