Vanessa Feltz issues warning as 'seriously ill' daughter rushed to hospital

Vanessa Feltz has warned people to get their flu jabs as her daughter is seriously ill in hospital.

She took to Instagram to announce that her eldest daughter, Allegra, was rushed to hospital after falling sick. The worried mum said that the 36-year-old is "terribly unwell".

The TV presenter videoed herself talking from hospital, where she had remained by her daughter's bedside. She wore a face mask as she explained that doctors thought her daughter was suffering from flu.

Vanessa captioned the post: "Speaking from my daughter’s hospital bed. She has been on a drip since Thursday. She has ‘flu’. She has been vaccinated. The consultant said if she hadn’t things would be even worse. She says to ask you please get your ‘flu’ vaccine."

The worried mum also appeared on ITV's This Morning as Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were discussing the latest health headlines. Vanessa wanted to add her views on how important flu jabs can be.

Explaining just how sick her daughter has been, Vanessa said: "She has been desperately ill since Wednesday. It's now Monday. She's been on a drip since Thursday night."

Vanessa explained how it began as she said: "She was vomiting and vomiting and we thought it was norovirus, thinking it was the kind of thing you just deal with at home. But she got sicker and sicker and in the end was admitted as an emergency."

She added that she and her daughter both paid to have their flu jabs this year over fears of being ill. She said that the consultant said to her: "Imagine if she hadn't been vaccinated. The vaccine may not prevent you from getting the flu but it will save your life."

Vanessa said that her daughter has been "deadly ill". She was unable to open her eyes or even talk yesterday morning but the doctors think she will get better as she has "turned a corner" today.
