A council has pleaded with vandals to 'please stop' after a string of mindless acts of vandalism across play areas used by children and families.
North Lanarkshire council is calling on communities to help combat the rise in recent incidents which have taken place across Kilsyth, Cumbernauld, Motherwell, Airdrie, Harthill, Coatbridge and Birkenshaw.
Earlier this year, residents were devastated after wooden statues, at a park that had just opened last November, were defaced.

The council, last year, invested over half a million pound towards creating and upgrading new and exciting play facilities for children and families to enjoy.
North Lanarkshire council wrote on Facebook: "Playparks throughout North Lanarkshire have been vandalised in recent months.
"We're appealing to our young people to please stop this behaviour. Please help us protect these playparks.
"Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101."
