Van Morrison is returning to his hometown this summer for a huge outdoor gig.
The 76-year-old singer-songwriter will perform a special headline show at Custom House Square on Friday, August 19 where he will be joined by some very special guests.
Having been on the road as a travelling musician at the tender age of 15, Van drew much of his inspiration for his musical career whilst listening to his father's collection of blues, country and gospel.

Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers, Muddy Waters, Mahalia Jackson and Leadbelly were his main sources of inspiration, and in his teenage years Van was already playing guitar and sax in several bands before forming Them in 1964. The band enjoyed chart success with instant hits such as the much-covered ‘Gloria’ and ‘Here Comes The Night’.
After striking out on his own in 1967 with the release of Blowin’ Your Mind!, Morrison’s music has continued to span genres including R&B, Jazz, Blues, Gospel, Folk and Soul. Van’s unrivalled songwriting and musicality continues to evolve with the creation of new material and reinterpretation of older classics.
Last year he released his 42 nd studio album Latest Record Project Vol. 1 , a 28 track double album delving into his ongoing love of blues, R&B, jazz and soul.
Tickets for the outdoor gig at Belfast's Custom House Square will go on sale this Wednesday, March 30 at 9am from the Ticketmaster website and all the usual outlets.
