Van flips on roof after crash on Scots road as driver rushed to hospital

A driver has been rushed to hospital after the van he was driving flipped on to its roof following a crash in Aberdeenshire.

The alarm was raised at around 9.30am on Saturday, November 26 when officers were called to a collision that had taken place between a car and a van on King Street in the town of Peterhead.

The male driver of the van was taken to hospital by ambulance to receive treatment. The extent of his injuries, as well as his current condition, is not yet known.

Images taken by an eyewitness at the scene, which were shared online, show the now-abandoned vehicle lying completely upside down in the middle of the street and bits of metal and other debris strewn across the road.

An ambulance is parked up nearby while a uniformed officer and a paramedic liaise with a small group who have gathered on the pavement. Two men in particular huddle on the ground and stare worriedly at the mangled wreck.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a crash involving a car and a van on King Street in Peterhead shortly after 9.30am on Saturday, 26 November.

“The male driver of the van was taken to hospital for treatment and recovery was arranged for the vehicles.”
