Jean-Claude Van Damme got a lot of attention this weekend after he posted a video on Instagram that showed him spending time with Donald Trump in what looked like a friendly visit inside the president’s office. The clip looked polished and personal, and at first glance it seemed like the action star had actually met with the former US president. But the video appeared to be AI-generated, and that detail didn’t go unnoticed for long.
Alongside the video, Van Damme shared a message that said, “Let’s use sports and martial arts as a bridge to bring people together and peace among nations.” It sounded like something he would naturally say, and thousands of people liked the post right away. Most viewers seemed to enjoy the sentiment, but a few fans felt uneasy once they realized the footage wasn’t real.
