Value Scope: Steve Jones' tips from Wincanton, Aintree and Doncaster

DON’T worry, be Happy.

The Badger Beer Chase looks a cracking race this year with King George winner Frodon lining up in Wincanton’s annual brock-buster but much lower down the weight RED HAPPY (1.50) has a great chance.

He will love the quick ground and David Pipe’s runner arrives in top form having seen off useful Vision Des Flos at Exeter last month.

That was his fourth win in his last five races on right-handed tracks and this improving five-year-old gets on well with young jockey Philip Armson.

Have 2pts each-way at 16-1. Most bookies are paying out on four places and Sky Bet is stretching to five.

They race over the Grand National fences in the Boylesports Grand Sefton Chase at Aintree where AL DANCER (2.11) looks nicely treated.

He’s always had plenty of class and he showed he can handle big-field handicaps when third in the Paddy Power Gold Cup a couple of years ago.

Sam Thomas’ hope is much lower in the weights now despite ending last season by going close at Newbury.

Have 1pt each-way at 17-2. Several bookies are going five places.

The turf Flat season comes to a close at Doncaster where the ground will be extremely testing.

That will suit RHYTHM MASTER (12.50) in the BetGoodwin Wentworth Stakes.

He was third in this race 12 months ago when trained by Richard Fahey and he looks to be coming to the boil for new trainer James Horton.

After just four starts this season he will be fresher than most of the runners and he chased home smart I’m A Gambler in a 7f Redcar Listed race a month ago.

The stamina he showed there will come in handy.

Have 2pts each-way at 11-1. Plenty of bookies paying out on four places.

The BetGoodwin November Handicap is the big race at Donny where FIRST OFFICER (3.13) looks an ideal candidate.

He has thrived on soft ground in two starts since joining Jane Chapple-Hyam.

The return to 1m4f should be ideal after his narrow defeat over 1m2f at this track on heavy ground last month.

Have 2pts each-way at 11-1. Several bookies are paying six places with Sky Bet going seven.
