A collection of valuable old books by celebrated author P.G Wodehouse have been rescued from the tip. Eagle-eyed staff at a recycling centre spotted the haul of books before they were due to go to landfill.
A local expert thinks that just one of the books could be worth as much as £200. The collector explained how extraordinary a find the collection was and that it was rare to have books with their original wrappings.
A refuse worker, who is an avid reader, realised they were something special when he found them at at Five Lanes Household Recycling Centre (HRC) near Caldicot. Staff then got in touch with a book collector in Tintern.
