The biggest countryside music festival near Bristol has announced the first wave of its line-up for this year - with some familiar Bristolian acts headlining.
The biggest girl group of the 1980s - Bananarama - are one of three headline acts at ValleyFest, the festival which takes place in the countryside overlooking the Chew Valley reservoir, just south of Bristol.
This year’s event is taking place on the first weekend of August - between the 3rd and the 6th - and will also have The Kooks and Scouting For Girls headlining.

The festival is a music and food event on farmland next to Chew Valley Lake, and will now be in its ninth year. Other acts on the bill announced today (February 2) include Altern 8, Crazy P, Norman Jay MBE, Krafty Kuts and the Legends of Goldie Lookin Chain.
As well as Banarama’s headline act being two-thirds Bristolian, the festival’s centrepiece ‘playground’ is being created by Bristol-based dance music industrial sculpture legends Arcadia. They are bringing back their ‘Alchemist Playground’ creation to Valley Fest which, by day is a hive of activity where the Woodland Tribe will be on hand to help build a playground upon which the kids will dance, and there’s even welding workshops.
Then, by night, the afterburner fires up - a Rolls Royce jet engine which forms part of a circular stage with the dancefloor around the DJ in the middle. The festival founder Luke Hasell said: “Guaranteed good times ahead!
"And we’ve only just started. Families, you’ll find something for your toddlers, teens, parents and grandparents! Everyone needs to get on my land!"
Tickets are on sale via SeeTickets with options for the full weekend with camping or just Sunday daytime.
