TerraTech Worlds drops you on an alien planet that's just demanding to be explored. But, it doesn't just create a stunning, intriguing world that shows off the power of Unreal Engine 5, it also gives you all the tools you need to explore in exactly the way you want to.
There's a reason that TerraTech Worlds became one of the most downloaded demos and wishlisted games during the most recent Steam Next Fest - and was one of the top five best-selling games on Steam for its Early Access launch on March 22.
This is a game that's all about building and creating, particularly when it comes to your base, but also your vehicle. Find an obstacle that you can't quite surpass, time to get tweaking and create a buggy that's ready for any terrain that this uncharted planet will throw at you.
Just as you can with your base, you're always going to be expanding and experimenting with your vehicle designs. You'll unlock more Blocks for your creative library and further building opportunities the more you explore and discover.
This is an uncharted territory after all, so strange forests may well lead you to huge rivers or even oceans, as well as mountains and deserts, all hiding all sorts of valuable resources just over that next hill.
Of course, with uncharted lands come unexpected threats too, so you'll have to make sure that you're ready to fight off the bandits that threaten your newly established base or the flora that grows native to these colorful lands.
Thankfully, you don't have to go it alone though, as TerraTech Worlds allows up to six friends to explore together as unique Prospectors of this alien terrain. It'll come in handy to have your pals by your side as you take on enemy bases, and figure out how to best harvest the planet's resources and get them back to your no doubt ever-expanding base.
With a planet some 300km² in size, it's going to be quite the adventure - as you can tell by the trailer that recently dropped as part of our very own Future Games Show Spring Showcase.
TerraTech Worlds is out now in Steam via Early Access, where developer Payload Studios is working closely with the community to evolve the game as it works towards the full 1.0 release.
"With TerraTech Worlds we wanted to create a rich, immersive sandbox that drew from our ten years of experience working on its predecessor, TerraTech," explains Russ Clarke, CEO and co-founder of Payload Studios. "With this ground-up reimagining, we wanted to provide players with a deep, layered experience that brought together immersive and diverse landscapes, expressive base building and automation, spherical planets, oceans and terrain deformation, combined with TerraTech's intuitive block-building gameplay."
"After our strong showing in Steam Next Fest, we're super excited to bring new players into Payload's unique brand of transparent, community-driven development as we power into Early Access. The game will evolve continuously as we work towards 1.0 over the coming months, following our public roadmap but with plenty of as yet unannounced features and built-in scope to respond to feedback from our growing community."
