With Valentine's Day around the corner, Austin, Texas is gearing up to celebrate love through its vibrant culinary scene. As February 14th approaches, couples seeking romance can explore a wide range of dining options, including numerous Latin American restaurants.

Mexican, as well as South American and Caribbean cuisines, are flourishing in this city, which comes as no surprise given its growing Latino population. According to the latest figures from the U.S. Census Bureau, over 32.5% of Austin's residents identify as Latino or Hispanic.

From tacos to grilled steak, wine and colorful drinks, here are three romantic Latin American restaurants to enjoy Valentine's Day with a Latino twist.

Latin American Restaurants to Enjoy Valentine's Day

1. Cuban Food Restaurant: Habana SoCo

Established in 2001 by Ron and Yasbel Flores, Habana SoCo is a celebrated Austin eatery known for its genuine Cuban and Caribbean dishes, handcrafted cocktails, and premium cigars. Embracing Yasbel's Cuban roots and honoring Texan produce, the restaurant prides itself on meticulously preparing meals using beloved family recipes.

The menu features the iconic Cuban sandwich, comprising ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard, and sometimes salami on Cuban bread. Additionally, there is seafood paella, as well as ceviche with fried plantains or the traditional 'arroz con pollo,' which is chicken with rice.

2. Mexican Food Restaurant: La Holly

'La Holly', a member of the Taco Flats family located on the Eastside of Austin, Texas, is a cantina offering a spacious patio, perfect for enjoying margaritas, micheladas, or a proper mezcal alongside a wide variety of tacos and other alternative menu options.

This Valentine's Day holds special significance for the restaurant as it celebrates its sixth anniversary. While there will be special drinks for the occasion, consider indulging in the classic 'Viejo Amigo' if you're flying solo, or try the bold 'Al Diablo,' a Spanish expression meaning 'To hell with this!', featuring blanco tequila, lime, ginger, creme de cassis, soda, and jalapeno, if you've recently gone through a breakup.

3. Argentine Food Restaurant: Buenos Aires Cafe

Can you imagine anything more romantic than the ambiance of the city that inspired the tango? Picture the perfect date, savoring a cup of red wine while relishing a perfectly grilled steak. You need an Argentine restaurant, and Buenos Aires Cafe happens to have a special menu for this Valentine's Day.

"Indulge in a delicious 4-course dinner perfectly paired with an exclusive wine selection from South America," the restaurant offers on their website. You can also visit the 'Milonga Room,' a speakeasy boasting a wide selection of amaro, located in the restaurant's former basement storage area.
