Val Kilmer’s children have spoken out for the first time since the actor’s death earlier this week at the age of 65.

In a statement shared with People, his daughter Mercedes and son Jack paid tribute to their “extraordinary” father and thanked fans for the outpouring of love following the Top Gun star’s passing.
