Every so often, some little indie title comes from out of nowhere and takes the world by storm — stuff like Among Us, Phasmophobia, Valheim, and now V Rising.
On Friday, Stunlock Studios announced that V Rising has already amassed more than 500,000 players on PC. The gothic, open-world survival game with vampires didn’t have much hype before its early access launch on May 17, 2022, and just like that, it’s enormous! The studio did not explicitly state how many units of V Rising have sold yet, though there’s an up-front fee of $19.99. So yeah, it’s likely surpassed more than half a million in sales.
It's official! 500,000 Vampires out there have stepped foot into Vardoran! Thank you all for joining us on this journey! pic.twitter.com/35pLD6DQW2

According to SteamDB, V Rising‘s all-time peak concurrent player count is hovering around 100,000 as of May 20, 2022, firmly placing the game in Steam’s top 10 most played titles. That number will likely skyrocket over the coming weeks as word of mouth travels around. It’s also sporting the ever-illusive “Very Positive” user review rating on the platform too.
It’s huge on Twitch as well. As of May 20, 2022, TwitchTracker indicates that V Rising boasts an average of more than 37,000 viewers. That may not sound like much, but keep in mind that the game has only been out three days.
Maybe all of this success is a flash in the pan, or maybe V Rising is the next big thing. We’ll find out soon enough.
