President Joe Biden on Monday told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky the US would provide Ukraine’s armed forces with “advanced air defence systems” and other self-defence support after Russian missile strikes hit a range of civilian targets in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.
A White House readout of a phone call between the two leaders said Mr Biden “expressed his condemnation” of the latest Russian attacks and “conveyed his condolences to the loved ones of those killed and injured”.
