LUCKNOW: After watching the recent fast-paced development within the Samajwadi Party from sidelines for a while, patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav held a 90-minute-long closed-door meeting with his son and party president Akhilesh Yadav at SP headquarters in Lucknow on Friday. After jointly addressing the party workers in Mainpuri on Thursday, this was the second time that the father-son got together in the past 48 hours.
In political circles, the meeting is being seen as Mulayam Singh’s way of sending out a message to the cadres at the grassroots level that the veteran politician and party founder was standing firmly with son Akhilesh, particularly at a time when his younger brother Shivpal is showing all signs of drifting towards the BJP.
