Uttar Pradesh govt to purchase 10 lakh metric tonnes coal to boost power supply

LUCKNOW: Following a meeting with officials in Bundelkhand, state energy minister Arvind Kumar Sharma announced to purchase 10 lakh metric tonnes of coal to boost power supply in UP.

The state thermal power stations (TPSs) recorded 860 MW outage on Saturday as 660 MW unit of government-run Harduaganj (Aligarh) TPS and 200 MW unit of Obra, Sonbhadra had no coal. Interestingly, independent power producer (IPP), a thermal power station, generated 6,200 MW on Saturday.
