Uttar Pradesh: From earning Rs 5,000 to run his family, Prayagraj lad sets up $1 billion company

PRAYAGRAJ: From drawing a salary of Rs 5,000 per month as a physics teacher to run his family in Prayagraj to rejecting a job offer of Rs 75 crores, 29-year old local lad Alakh Pandey has raised a $100 million (around Rs 777 crore) funding for his Edtech startup PhysicsWallah to emerge as India’s newest unicorn.

Standing at a valuation of $1 billion (over Rs 8,551 crore), the company was started by Pandey as a YouTube channel back in 2016.
