Uttar Pradesh: Five of a family, driver die in Barabanki crash

LUCKNOW: Five members of a family and a driver were killed in a road accident in Barabanki on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred near Narayanpur in Ramsanehighat Kotwali area on the Ayodhya-Lucknow highway.

Barabanki ASP Purnendu Singh said that around 3am, a car heading to Ayodhya from Lucknow collided with a stationary truck parked on the highway.

The impact was so hard that it was reduced to a pulp.

Local residents informed police about the accident. The victims were rushed to the community health centre in Ramsanehighat but none of the occupants could make it.

Ajay Kumar Verma (34), his brother Ram Janma (28), his wife Sapna (28), and sons Aryan (8) and Yash (10) were identified as victims along with driver Ajay Kumar Yadav, said the officer.

Verma was a businessman in Surat, Gujarat, and was heading to his hometown Ayodhya.

His father Vipat, with the entire family wiped out, was inconsolable. In fact, there was an atmosphere of mourning in the entire village.

“It is an untimely death for all. Ajay was the sole breadwinner for the family. How can God be so cruel,” he told reporters, as he sobbed.
