Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) on Tuesday busted a fake call center in Indiranagar in Lucknow and arrested four people. The call centre was running a job racket where miscreants lured educated youth and unemployed persons with a promise of jobs and extorted heavy amount of money from them.
The arrested accused had been running this racket for many years. The four accused belong to different districts of UP but currently were living at different places in Lucknow. They have been identified as Rajan Srivastava, resident of Mirzapur; Rakesh Sharma, resident of Gorakhpur; Surendra Pratap Singh of Pratapgarh and Sumendra Tiwari of Hardoi, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
All the accused were arrested after a raid in the early hours on Tuesday from Om Plaza flat number 305, Sector-19, Indiranagar in Lucknow.
The STF recovered 3 laptops, 70 mobile phones, 97 add cards of different companies, 9 ATM cards, 13 cheque books, several data sheets, ATM swapping machine and many other equipments and documents from the call centre.
In fact STF had been continuously receiving complaints about an organized gang that was extorting money from unemployed educated youths in the name of jobs through fake call centre. The information was being compiled under the supervision of Dharmesh Kumar Shahi, Deputy Superintendent of Police, STF.
After the confirmation of the complaint by an informer, the raid was conducted by the STF team led by Inspector Raghavendra Singh. The other members in the team included Atul Chaturvedi, Pradeep Singh, Neeraj Pandey, Sushil Singh, Ramnivas Shukla, Rajeev Kumar, Amit Tripathi and Amar Srivastava.
During interrogation, the accused told the police that all of them had met while working in Noida and have been engaged in this illegal business for the last three years. They used to purchase pre-activated mobile SIM cards in large quantities on fake and coded names and addresses and download the data of educated unemployed youths on the internet and make phone calls to them to extort money in the name of fake jobs.
A case has been filed against the arrested accused under relevant sections of IT Act in police station Ghazipur.
Further investigation is underway.
