PRAYAGRAJ: Muslim voters, due to their sheer numbers and trend of en bloc voting, are said to be key in deciding the fate of candidates in at least five of the 12 assembly seats in Prayagraj district, but still Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress have shied from fielding candidates from the community.
Only 16 Muslim candidates, including two from SP and one each from Congress and BSP, are in fray in the district.
The highest number of five Muslim candidates, including Gulam Qadir of BSP and Tasleemuddin of Congress, are contesting from Allahabad West seat, while no Muslim contestant is in fray from Bara, Koraon, Soraon, Handia, and Karchhana seats.
