Uttar Pradesh elections: Mulayam Singh Yadav, Akhilesh, Shivpal come together after five years

LUCKNOW: Captured by the camera after a gap of a little over five years, Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, brother Shivpal Yadav and son Akhilesh Yadav in one frame, the Yadav clan came together for Samajwadi Party’s Vijay Yatra onboard the special rath in Etawah on Thursday evening.

The last time the three appeared together on a dais was in October 2016 at a party event at SP headquarters in the runup to the 2017 Assembly elections. Five years later, it is election time again and the family has got together.

Mulayam, Shivpal and Akhilesh along with SP candidate from Etawah Sadar assembly constituency Sarvesh Shakya boarded the SP Vijay Yatra rath at Lion Safari with the patriarch by the window seat waving to the crowd. Party workers and locals gathered in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the family. The rath slowly steered through the Etawah city roads covering a distance of around 10 kilometers in a little over four hours to end at Bharthana crossing around 10 pm.

In between, the rath stopped at places where locals and party workers had gathered and organised firework displays as a mark of their support. Akhilesh took to the top of the bus through the special escalator. Thereafter the family got in their motorcade and left.
