Uttar Pradesh elections: BJP wants masses to remain poor, says Priyanka Gandhi Vadra

LUCKNOW: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday said that the BJP and its leaders wanted masses in the country to remain poor and dependent and work only for the benefit of their friends.

“They will make tall claims, put up beautiful advertisements to paint a rosy picture to hide the truth and tell that development was the order of the day, but it is the BJP government’s policy to let the people of India live with poverty and dependency. They do not want you to become self-reliant and march forward on the path of development. The interest of their businessmen friends is the only reason they work for,” Priyanka said in Jagdishpur.

On the reason behind this, Priyanka said: “The sole purpose of all their schemes was to ensure that people remain trapped in the circle of helplessness. And till this haplessness prevails, they will be able to play their cards of religion and caste and achieve their political goals.”

Adding that the free ration and financial assistance provided by the BJP governments aimed at making people remain indebted, Priyanka said: “Recently, while speaking at an election meeting, Modi remembered an elderly woman who had said that she would remain loyal to him only because she had benefited from free ration scheme launched by his government. The day the youth of the country become self-reliant and educated and start weighing the depth of these tall claims, divisive politics will die on its own. The young minds… the open minds … will start asking questions and demand their rightful dues in education, public health and social welfare.”

Priyanka urged voters to think about the future of their children and choose a representative who would make them independent and successful rather than dependent and depressed. “I keep meeting people from different walks of life and even the poorest of the poor work hard to educate their children. I am sure none of them wanted their child to survive on free ration ” she said.

Priyanka said that they keep talking about terrorism, Pakistan or religion, but not of unemployment, inflation, stray cattle, women empowerment.
