Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, World Bank expert discuss agriculture

LUCKNOW: World Bank’s lead agriculture expert Andrew Goodland called on Chief minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow on Tuesday. It was a courtesy call, reports said.

During the meeting, the CM held detailed discussions with Goodland on agriculture and rural industry ecology schemes.

The government spokesperson said there is a proposal to spend Rs 3,500 crore under the schemes over a period of five years.

With the aim of doubling the farmers’ income, agriculture-based industries would be operated through agriculture production organizations and natural farming would be encouraged under the scheme.

The department of tiny, small and medium industries had sent a proposal of the scheme to the World Bank through the agriculture department, he said.

Work would be done to strengthen rural industries and for creating more job opportunities for the people of the state under the scheme, he said.

Chief secretary agriculture Devesh Chaturvedi and additional chief secretary MSME and information Navneet Sehgal were also present in the meeting.
