GORAKHPUR: A class 8th girl committed suicide in Gorakhpur on Sunday. The postmortem report that came on Monday confirmed that she was pregnant. On the complaint of the girl's mother police have registered a case against a criminal who used to tease the girl, and launched a search for him.
On Monday, SSP Gaurav Grover met the girl's mother at her home and gave assurance of action.
As per report, one Achchelal of Pipraich area, a criminal out on bail, used to eve-tease the girl. On Sunday, her mother had gone to consult a doctor while her younger brother, student of class 6th, went out for some work and the girl was alone at house. In the evening, when the mother returned she found the girl hanging from the ceiling.
The mother told police that she knew that Achchelal used to eve-tease the girl but she was not aware of her pregnancy. Girl's father died in 2011 and her elder sister is married.
There are 18 cases of crime including rape, loot, fraud and theft registered against Achchelal and he came out on bail against a loot case, a year ago.
"Postmortem report confirmed that the girl was pregnant and it is possible to be the cause behind her extreme step. The accused will be arrested soon. If any carelessness of police is found regarding the matter, action will be taken against those responsible," said the SSP.
