LUCKNOW: Chief secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, whose one-year extension to serve in his current post in UP was set to expire on December 31, has been given another extension. Confirming the development to TOI, Mishra said the extension is for a period of one year.
The 1984-batch IAS officer of the UP cadre was serving as secretary in the ministry of urban affairs when, in a sudden move, the Centre gave him an extension just three days before his retirement, and repatriated him to his home state UP for his “proposed appointment” as chief secretary just months before the state went into Assembly elections. He replaced RK Tiwari, who was due to retire in February 2023. Mishra’s second extension came a day before he would have retired after the first extension.
