VARANASI: A fresh petition was filed in the court of civil judge (junior division) Akash Verma, seeking rights to perform 'puja' at the city's Bindu Madhav temple inside Beni Madhav-ka-Dharahara alleging that it was also destroyed by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, who converted it into a mosque in the name of Dharahara. The structure is now an ASI-protected monument.
"The court has accepted our petition by allotting case no. 225/2022 and fixed July 4 as the next date for hearing in this case," said Raja Anand Jyoti Singh, the lawyer of petitioners Atul Kul, Rahul Mishra, Rajendra Prasad, Shyamji Singh and Ramesh Yadav.
