Florida isn't what it used to be.
Under coach Urban Meyer from 2005 to ’10, the Gators were the envy of college football. They won national championships in ’06 and ’08, in an era where the spread offense introduced uncharacteristic parity to the game; the team’s successes and controversies were recently chronicled in Netflix’s Untold docuseries.
Now, coach Billy Napier’s program is stuck in the mud, four years removed from its last 10-win season under Dan Mullen. The Gators looked sloppy in a 24–11 loss to No. 14 Utah Thursday evening in Salt Lake City—and the Utes made sure their opponents knew it.

In 2022, the Gators topped then-No. 7 Utah 29–26 in the opener and slingshotted up to No. 12 in the country. Florida finished 6–7, and the loss hung albatross-like around the Utes’ resume for the remainder of the year.
