USMNT squad announcement: Christian Pulisic and Matt Turner update, new head coach, date and time

Fans of USMNT are waiting eagerly for the announcement of the first squad post-Gregg Berhalter. Currently, without a full-time head coach, USA are in a state of change as they prepare for matches in the CONCACAF Nations League against Grenada and El Salvador later this month.

Berhalter, who managed the side to the last-16 of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, left his post in charge of the team when his contract expired at the end of the year. No new replacement has been named on a full-time basis with Anthony Hudson currently in charge.

Beyond that there is still a wait going on to find out the new structure of the entire USA footballing department with a general manager, split roles between the men's and women's team and other important decisions yet to be announced.

In the immediate short term there are games to prepare for though, with Hudson in charge of selecting a group of players. The last set of Premier League fixtures are being played this weekend, with the international break spanning between Monday, March 20 and Saturday April 1.

USA play their two games on March 25 and March 28 as their attention turns towards a long-term plan for the 2026 World Cup being hosted in America, Canada and Mexico. Before that their squad must first be announced and it is expected to become public between March 14 and March 19.

A point to note is that unlike squad restrictions for the World Cup or CONCACAF tournaments, there is no such limit here, meaning Hudson could choose a massive roster. Argentina, for example, picked 35 players for their fixtures, Mexico named 34.

The fact that other countries are now coming out with their squads makes the arrival USA's even more eagerly anticipated with new captain Tyler Adams, star winger Christian Pulisic and Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner all likely to be included. Chelsea's forward has been missing for the large part since the winter with injury but made a timely return to action ahead of the break.

Turner, meanwhile, is still playing back-up to Aaron Ramsdale at the Emirates Stadium but has been given the nod during cup matches and also in the Europa League so far this season.

Now the waiting game continues with fans ready to start a new era.
