Former Tottenham and Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel has claimed that many of the Premier League strikers from previous eras would equal Erling Haaland's incredible scoring feats at Manchester City were they playing in Pep Guardiola's team.
Haaland has enjoyed a remarkable start to life in England, with 17 goals in just eleven Premier League appearances so far for City. This means that he only requires one more goal to match the total of 18 which won the Golden Boot award for players in both the 1997/98 and 1998/99 campaigns respectively.
However, Friedel, who made more than 500 Premier League appearances says that strikers from that era would match his feats were they playing in Guardiola's Manchester City side. This includes both Thierry Henry and Didier Drogba, who played in two of the best ever Premier League teams under Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho respectively.

Speaking to Fair Betting Sites, Friedel explained why he thought that those strikers could match Haaland in today's Premier League, saying: “There's a lot of players that remind me of Haaland, like Alan Shearer. There are some remarkable strikers I played against. Ruud van Nistelrooy was remarkable, Shearer was remarkable, Thierry Henry, Didier Drogba and Andy Cole were all remarkable.
“If you put all these guys into this Man City team, they score. They score all the goals that he's scoring. He is prospering from being in this remarkable team, and he is very good but doesn't take away the abilities of a lot of other strikers. There are probably 10 to 15 others, Harry Kane included, that would prosper in that side.”
Haaland is expected to make his comeback from a knock suffered in the Champions League last week and fans of Chelsea and Arsenal will be hoping that his scoring exploits stop soon to preserve the legacy of players such as Drogba and Henry.
