Using an electric blanket at night can cost half as much as turning on central heating

Using an electric blanket to keep warm at night could save you money on heating.

Sleepseeker, a bedding company, says its research shows running an electric blanket costs less than 50p per night, based on an eight hour sleep.

Separate research from Energy Helpline - as quoted by Yahoo - claims using central heating for nine hours can cost £1.20 per hour. So opting for an electric blanket may save you money, although it depends on the number of people in your household and how many radiators you need to switch on to keep them warm.
