Second Lady Usha Vance briefly lost her footing while carrying her 11-week-old son Alec down helicopter stairs at Joint Base Andrews, before quickly steadying herself and continuing her journey, footage shows. The moment occurred on Monday, 5 October, as the Vance family prepared to depart Maryland for Alaska.

Video of the incident shows Usha, 40, descending the steps with Alec secured against her in a baby carrier. She appeared to miss a step near the bottom of the staircase and immediately reached for the railing, allowing her to steady herself and prevent falling. She then checked on Alec and continued towards the tarmac.
