President Donald Trump is facing intense scrutiny after being photographed holding staff-prepared note cards during an Oval Office event on Monday to honour 16-year-old lifeguard Ryder Williams, reigniting fierce debate among political commentators regarding presidential fitness and the alleged hypocrisy of his supporters who previously criticised former President Joe Biden over similar briefing materials.

The news came after close-up images from the White House ceremony celebrating the California teenager, who rescued a child from drowning, revealed the specific contents of the papers in Trump's hands.
